Spinning, Pilates and Pump, Butts &
Guts
is Laura's Winning Combination!
For many women,
catching the appreciative eye of the man in their life is a great
reward.When Laura
joined the Studio in April of this year, she wanted to increase her
fitness level so that she could keep up her physical appearance –
not just for her husband, but for herself, as well.“My goal was to firm some of my softer areas and sculpt my
body,” she said.“I’m
a little over 30 and as time has progressed, I’ve realized how
important it is to have a regular fitness program.”
Laura started off
with Pilates, an exercise method that emphasizes the core muscles
(stomach and spine). She added Pump, Butts & Guts (a weight lifting class
devoted to strengthening and toning favorite spots) and Attack the
Fat (an aerobic class that taps into stored fat through 45 minutes
of cardio work).“I
started seeing results quickly,” reflected Laura.“My body began to change – although the scale didn’t
move much, my clothes became looser and my muscles gained
definition. And if you have a healthy body weight and body
composition (ratio of body fat, muscles, bones and water), inches
are more important than a number on a scale.”
After a few months
of regular exercise, Laura decided to challenge herself.“An introductory Spinning class was offered on a Monday
night,” she recalls.“I
decided to get on the bike and see what all the excitement was
about.”After her
first class, Laura was a believer.“Each Spinning ride is a different journey. I love to
challenge myself to the next level and see how far I can go.”
When asked for
advice, Laura thought back.“The
most important thing I can share is to stick with it,” she
remarked.“You have
to make a plan, surround yourself with people who will support you
in achieving your goals and then do it.”
In addition to the
exercise, Laura has made healthier eating decisions.“I try to make good decisions that provide the nourishment
I need,” she said. “But I firmly believe in balance.I don’t beat myself up for enjoying a piece of chocolate
now and then!”Her
belief in a balanced approach came through with her answer to this
thought-provoking question.If
she were a bumper sticker, what would she say?Laura’s answer:I
brake for hot and fresh ones!Krispy
Kreme donuts, that is!
Since beginning her
fitness regime, Laura has lost over 12 inches. “I look better and
feel healthier.One of
the greatest rewards,” she blushed, “is that Rich, my husband,
notices how much my body has changed and he’s taken a new interest
in me!”
Rich isn’t the
only one who’s noticed, Laura. Our hats are off to you for your success!
“The
most important thing is to stick with it ... make a plan,
surround yourself with people who will support you in achieving your
goals and then do it.”
