A New Start: Nearly 15 Pounds Lighter and 15
Inches Smaller!
Susan Enters New Phase of Life, Healthier and
Happier
(Printable
Version)It
took the tragic loss of her mother for Susan to take a good look at
herself and realize
the
importance of her own health. Her mother passed away from
hypertension, with the heart overworked and enlarged … and she was
only 67 years old. Susan wanted to live well past her sixties
and enjoy life at its fullest for a long, long time.
Working through her
grief, Susan recognized that she needed a compelling goal for
herself. The first thing she did was admit that she needed to lose
weight and secondarily, to get off her blood pressure medication.
“Losing a parent is one of the most life-changing events that can
happen to a person,” reflected Susan. “The experience really made
me focus on my own life, my own mortality. It caused me to make a
commitment to myself to live a healthy lifestyle so that I can enjoy
my grandchildren and great grandchildren.”
First Steps To A New Life
Using her new direction as inspiration, Susan joined a small women’s
gym and began the process of transformation. She was at the gym for
only a brief time when she realized that she didn’t quite fit in
with the other clients and that the programs didn’t seem right for
her. Thankfully, it wasn’t long before one of her children came
home from school with a flier for Roxanne’s Studio.
Susan decided to
come in and see what made this Studio so different. She decided to
start with the
six week challenge. Her weeks began to fill with a one-hour
personal training session and two group fitness classes. Her
favorite was Spinning
(indoor cycling) because of the fantastic cardio workout that
focused on weight loss.
Immediately, Susan noticed that the environment at Roxanne’s had no
competition and or judgment between students or instructors.
Instead, there was a wonderful sense of community – of like minded
individuals seeking to improve themselves. Smaller class sizes and
an intimate atmosphere made the Studio the perfect place for her and
a month later, Susan made a 12-month commitment for two Pilates Mat
classes a week. A few months later, she added Pilates Reformer classes to her routine. Now, her regular routine consists of on
Pilates Mat and two Pilates reformer classes per week, with an
occasional Spin class.

Shrinks 15 Inches (That's More Than A Foot!)
Less than a year later, Susan now feels stronger and more
empowered. She’s lost more than 10 lbs and is 15 inches smaller!
“I’ve lost more than a foot off my body!” Susan said excitedly.
“That was one foot I didn’t need!” Her energy level has
dramatically increased and she’s put that newfound energy toward her
two children and husband of 15 years – and started back to school
this fall. “Pilates has done wonderful things for me both
physically and emotionally!” commented Susan. “I have more
confidence in myself, feel great and have discovered an inner
strength I never knew existed.”
Her friends have
noticed her success and remark, “Besides noticing the impact Pilates
has had on your body, it’s incredible to see what it’s done for your
spirit!” Susan is an extremely positive and upbeat woman who
constantly reminds herself that the “number on the scale is not a
measure of your worth.”
Still Hard At
Work, Susan Makes Great Progress
Susan continues to work hard and is proud to announce she can now do
exercises that two months ago seemed impossible! One example is the
Pilates roll up – where you lay flat on your back, with legs
extended and do a full sit-up without holding onto your legs or mat
for support.
We are very excited
to have this extraordinary woman as part of our family here at
Roxanne’s Studio. She is a model to all of our clients, and
definitely an inspiration. We wish her great success in reaching
her dreams, and are honored that she has chosen us to be right
beside her through her journey of good health.
